Public Speaking

Just made a minute and a half presentation in front of about 15 Vassar’s Trustees including Meryl Streep (class of ’67) and Lisa Kudrow (class of ’85). I had to briefly describe the design process behind Community Works and Powerhouse websites.

The presentation turned out fine since I made it as short and concise as possible. I am glad it was done and over it. I hate public speaking ever since I was a freshman in college. I wanted to be a communication major, what was I thinking? Public Speaking was the most stressful class I ever had in college. After that course, I immediate changed my major to Digital Arts & Multimedia Design so that I can just let my arts do the talking for me. Well, I can now breathe normal again. Have a fantastic weekend everyone.

  1. Public speaking is never being comfortable for me then and until now, since I’m an immigrant, trying to adapt to American Society with my heavy accent in speaking English is just a nightmare. But I have to face it time to time, since I can’t stand going back to live in Vietnam. I believe “life experience” will overcome that “uneasy feeling”. I took several classes related fine arts in college, but not because of my English speaking difficulty. And you know what! I found out fine arts is much more challenging than any other subjects in school. Oh yeah! I remember I got block sometimes; feeling physically nothing to myself and being half dead/ half alive was a usual thing. I’d constantly struggled dealing with my own thought all the time. …(Sight!) Speaking of fine arts. I got to get back to it. (wan dat feelin again!) Im thinking to warm it up myself by doing some figure drawings. A` ha! Maybe Nicole Kidmans naked body will give me a good start!

    Have a nice weekend, Donny!

  3. Trung, thanks for sharing your experience. That’s absolutely true about what you said.

Lele, orginally, I was shooting for about 4 minutes but I felt that they were in a need to move on to the next meeting so I cut it real short. Well, I was focusing my attention on this older lady who kept on smiling and notting so I felt a bit more confidence.
