New Film

Model-turn-singer Ngo Thanh Van is casting in a new romantic comedy Saigon Love Story. Based on the trailer, it looks like a banal chick flick, but we’ll see if she can act, or she will fluff through the way she does with her musical inability.

  1. Since she can’t sing at all, I doubt she can act. She should stick to her modeling career and give music fans a break of torture.

  4. I see that this film has stirred up much interest in your forum as to whether Ngo Thanh Van can act. I will let you guys be the judge. After all, you guys, the audience, have the final word.

Where are you guys from? Maybe I’ll have a screening in your area. Chick flick or dick flick, I think the larger question is: “Do Vietnamese people support their own cinema so we can have our own culture?” That is the only way we filmmakers can continue making films by and for our people. Tell all your friends and family! And take them all en mass the ifrst weekend of the opening of a Vietnamese film. That’s the only way we’ll be able to make more films.

Thanks for your support guys! See you guys soon at a theater near you…

  5. “Do Vietnamese people support their own cinema so we can have our own culture?” Of course we love to support our culture. This is what the site is all about. But that doesn’t mean we have to support it blindly. I would love to get a chance to view it and drop my 2 cents.
