I did listen to a few "old" songs from Ha Tran, and I think her singing style is great and very creative.

I also had a chance to listen to some samples of her new CDs. Honestly, I felt so disappointed with the lyrics. Her new CDs, I have to agree with other writer, do not worth a penny.

This is simply just my opinion. And I don't think Vietnamse Community in US welcome her anyway because of her background. One day, I hope peoples just put away their political ego, give her a warm welcome and few contructive advices.

It's sad to see a great talent singer like that has to struggle to survive in our own community...

I ought to mind my own business but I am one of those who can't sometimes. So I am giving my two cents to Donny.

First, regarding your reviewing Vietnamese music, I have read several of yours and some, I must say, I like very much. However, your asking for a free CD so that you can write a review while stating that you are not a professional critic appear to cynical mind like myself as a way to get a free CD period. You claim that you should be given one since buying them is expensive is one I find disheartening to read. If there is one thing about Americans that we Vietnameses should learn, be it you, me or HaTran, is that they go all out for things they love regardless of cost. You love music? Then spend your money on it. Don't ever expect someone else to foot the bill for you. Your review would then be completely free of influence or nepotism therefore is valuable. Otherwise, don't bother.

Secondly, ask yourself this question: How big (dollar-wise) is our oversea music market? You really can't compare it to the US market. We have few millions scattering around the world while there are 300 millions on US soil alone. The publisher of the books you reviewed is one employing at least a few individuals tracking blogs mentioning their books for market study. HaTran surely cannot afford to hire one. Hers is not even a major company in our community. This is why she contracts with Thuy Nga. Every Vietnamese know that any ??? production company in our community is mom & pop compare to Americans'. Even Thuy Nga and Asia. The quality of their products says it all. Poor in every aspect in compare to Americans'. The most annoying habit of Vietnameses media people is this habit of demanding gift in exchange for their review. It seems every one thinks he/she is entitled for compensation for his/her opinions writing effort. If every who can write two sentences about a CD request a CD from the singer, he/she might as well go flip burgers at McDonald; he/she would get to keep more of his/her earning.

I hope you understand my points.

Onto HaTran musics. I used to like her singing. Her voice and technique are still good, but I don't really care for the latest CDs. It's not hers alone, it's the entire music industry in Vietnam and here. The lyrics are written by fifth graders apparently, ridiculous to hear, and the music is bits and craps of American's and Vietnamese's, completely lacking melody.

I bought two CDs two days ago: Bang Kieu's 'Va' la.i ti`nh to^i' and TTHa's 'Communication 06'. I was disappointed, felt I'd wasted $16. The new song writer TTH is promoting 'Nguyen Xinh Xo' should go back to farming. And I wish the Vietnameses would quite writing English lyrics. Tran Tien's songs are OK but offer nothing new or interesting. Ha's voice, good as it is, and her technique, sound as it is, couldn't save the CD.

Well, I have said enough. God to go get my senior nap. Thank you for the opportunity to voice my opinion. Keep up with your expensive passion.

Why is that? Many people are wasting time talking about Tran Thu Ha. She’s not worth a penny. Check out her new demos I must say they are all suck. What the hell are those people and she trying to do? I have no clue. The guy Xinh Xo sounds like a crying girl. And who is Hoang Ngoc anyway? It sounds corny as hell. They try to hard for a version of Madonna want-to-be.

Donny was so right. This VC bitch is not worth a penny.
