Commencement Speech Should Be English Only?

After a graduation speech delivered in partial Vietnamese by Cindy Vo and Hieu Vo to express their respect for their parents, the school officials in Terrebonne Parish are calling for speeches to be address in English only. Cindy Vo said: “Co len minh khong bang ai, co suon khong ai bang minh.” I am not sure what she is saying. Is it misquoted? Could someone rewrite it with proper accents? In any rate, it is fucking absurd not to be able to say a line in foreign language during a speech.

  1. “ngo’ le^n kho^ng ba)`ng ai, ngo’ xuong kho^ng ai bang mi`nh. “

  2. That’s what I thought too.

  3. ngo’ ngang thi thay buc minh, haha

  4. I bet everything would’ve been cool if it was spanish or french!

  5. “Ngó lên không bằng ai, ngó xuống không ai bằng mình.”
    :D

  6. I would say depend on where it is. As a liberal democrat I don’t care how they set the rules but it better apply to all and they better abide by their own rules. So if they can stick to their rules I think it’s all fine and dandy but if they single language out then it’s time for a change! Or shall I say time for a lawsuit.

Oh and according to the article they should get rid of the prayer all together. If quoting a few lines in a foreign language became such a problem then a prayer is definitely a no no :)

  7. c’est la vie… oops i guess i can’t say that

  8. c’est la vie falashi…
