Izakaya Blue Ocean
Because today is my sister-in-law’s birthday, her husband treated us to Izakaya Blue Ocean Japanese restaurant (its web site needs a serious redesign). The place was pretty dead for a Wednesday evening. We had some pork dumpling and fried baby octopus for started. They weren’t too bad. I ordered a seafood udon for dinner but ended up switching with Dana for Katsu Don. Dana tries to stay away from egg because Duke seems to get eczema every time she has eggs. I didn’t like Katsu Don that much because it had a sweet taste to it. I never liked my pork, rice and eggs sweet.
Donny,
When Duke is older, have him tested for food allergy, specifically egg. For now, do avoid it if you see him breaking out. My daughter has severe eczema, and her triggers are certain food (egg, shellfish, nuts) which she is allergic to. Another thing to watch out for, if he does end-up being allergic to egg, is that he will not be able to get the flu shot since they incubate the virus in egg. Talk to your pediatrician. Btw, he is adorable!!!!
Thanks for the tips, Kristine!
Although I am not that crazy about meat in general, I have noticed this Japanese rice dish called Tatsu-ta (not sure if it is just a newly made up name) at this Japanese cafe near my place: delightful fried chicken served on rice with complimentary miso soup. Like you, I dislike dished that has a blatant presence of sugar. I guess for that reason, I am not into many Cantonese and Thai dishes. Sweet people are a different matter though (drop me in a cup of warm water, you’ll end up with some syrup, hehe).
One more thing, I was drinking water all night thanks to the doses of MSG.
