Ly Tong Attacked Mr. Dam

Dressed up as a woman, Ly Tong approached Dam Vinh Hung to give him some flowers as well as some pepper spray. A clip has been captured and posted on YouTube. As much as I dislike Dam Vinh Hung’s music and wouldn’t paid to see him perform, I sympathize him. He’s standing a very thin line between the two political parties. He is more than just an entertainer. He’s a controversial figure. Still that’s not the reason to be attacked in public. Ly Tong, please stop your stupidity.

  7. I wonder what was Ly Tong’s bra size? Did he shave his armpits? Does he wear a dress at home too? I feel sorry for the cell mates who were waiting for some geisha to show up in jail but then have their jaws drop to the floor when the “geisha” turns out to be Mao Tse Dong’s grandma LOL

  9. Ly Tong is stupid. If he wanted to make a real statement, go back to vietnam and do that to the any one of the politicians. Doing this to DVH proves nothing but how cowardly & how much of a scumbag he is, no matter what association DVH has with VC. If you want to make a difference, don’t hide behind anything (in this case drag) and man up to do it to the real folks in charge.

Then they gonna make you yourself standing against your own community, your own family/mom/dad who death fought with communist to bring out here in free country today…..
What if your mom/dad/sister/brother got executed, raped, killed by communist, and there’s a guy standing in front of you say he representing the killer, tell me what you gonna do?
So LyTong did was understanding and need support him to warn/send any any “Communist best soldier” outthere message how dare you come here and ignite fire at our second home….

Cause’ if his show was a normal show, why there was an communist embassy representative sitting inside the stadium that night, why is he getting back to Vietnam the quick in next couple day although he will have another show in SouthernCali next week, he willcome back to US next week,…do you question yourself that what he doing? going back to VN to receive another mission/instruction given out to him what to do to antiVC community out here? come on guys….wake up before too late …..

  15. Attacking DVH in a petty way (pepper spray) is not the wisest of choice to promote anticommunism. I support Ly Tong’s cause but this time, it seems he picked a trivial target, more trouble than worth.

    Comment by dmc — 23 July 2010 @ 12:33 pm
  16. Dear lord these extremists always have the same argument. Take a class in common sense before you post. In America we have a thing called freedom of speech. That goes BOTH WAYS. Regardless of whether or not that concert was a tool for communist propaganda or was suspicious in any way, it was not breaking any laws, and you are free as US citizens to peacefully protest, however anything even close to what Ly Tong did is vicious and inexcusable.

Blah blah we’re “falling into the communist trap” and being brainwashed? Um no not really, you’re the ones who are so narrow-minded you freak at any opinion even slightly differing from yours and unfairly label it as “communist”. People with brains can be exposed to different ideas, ideologies that they disagree with yet still make up their own mind. What people like you support is censorship, paranoia and hate (oh the irony). Walk into an American elementary school, high school, college class and see what they teach about American history, the Vietnam War, or Vietnam in general. If you were fair you lot would be equally protesting America and its history curriculum because they likewise teach students many things about Vietnam that are nowhere near what you believe. They also expose students to (in an unbiased manner) to communism, socialism, etc. Things which you would undoubtedly call “propaganda”. We have brains to decide for ourselves, thank you.

  17. @dmc: Ly Tong for one was right-on this time. While comrade Dam as a communist is too small a fish to bother me, he deeply offends me as an aficionado of good music and good taste. The fascist in me thinks all of his fans/enablers should be put in the gas chambers. It’s the only way Dam Vinh Hung would become Dam Vinh Biet.

  19. If DVH was VC’s pawn or “soldier” than that gives new meaning to dont ask don’t tell. The fact that their lead soldier was sent to be attacked by “pepper spray” is the biggest load of rubbish I’ve seen at this end of the earth. Again, doing this to DVH no matter what his association with VC, proves NOTHING. In fact ppl on the radio even encouraged folks to come out to his hearing to lessen the bail money. That is the biggest BS I’ve ever heard. America is a land of rights, you have a right to protest, but you do NOT have a right to harm anybody, no matter what their association or affiliation. These stupid games is just a waste of time. Ly Tong needs to go back to vietnam and pull his pranks there, at least he will get some respect from me. In this case, he deserves whatever he gets. Cause and effect. Be smart people. DVH still gets to sing here and back home, ppl spending big bucks to see him, if DVH was the VC soldier, then the VC are laughing all the way to the bank while Ly Tong sits his ass in jail. Who’s the winner here? THINK PPL!?

Float brought up a very good point, DVH can afford to act like a clown because he got enough fan that support him to do so… In fact most of us probably know somebody that is a DVH fan. Most of his fan overhere probably come from an anti-vc family too :)

Probably because the next generation think all the anti-vc sentiment is bs to begin with. So clearly it’s a lot easier to pick a bone across the enemy line than to educate one of our own…

Whatever Ly Tong did is not wise and selfish, his action is now devided the Vietnamese community, he deserve to get punish for his act, many ppl in here who have respected for what he did in the past, now they think he is a coward and stupic, including me. One of my theory is he may working for the VC. The VC tried many ways to devide our community, and Ly Tong did a great thing for them, now while we argue with each other on many forums…the VC is laughing at us and congratulate themself…Politic is Suck…And I Hate It !!!!

  23. Ly Tong was not stupid . He had his agenda . People who do not understand what communism and communists are about, cannot see ahead what’s coming . People who view this incident as an attack of Ly Tong upon Dam Vinh Hung alone, are simply blind.

This is a video clip of the interview of Ly Tong’s lawyer :

    http://ttxva.com/video-luat-su-nguyen-tam-noi-ve-phien-dieu-tran-dau-tien-vu-xu-ly-tong/

Before you judge an incident, before you judge either DVH or Ly Tong, gather your facts, read history , ask “what DVH have done ?” , ask “Why Ly Tong chose to do that ?”, ask “what made people hate communists so much?”, ask “what are the tactics of communists?”, ask”why am I here in America and not living in Vietnam?”, ask “why my parents had to leave everything behind and escape Vietnam?” …
I will not hand you the answers to these questions because I believe you guys are mature enough, smart enough to ask yourself and dig out history facts for yourself .

I was brainwashed once and it took me a long time to do my own research, read up history books and continue to read and learn everyday about History of Vietnam . Now I understand why people are fighting so hard to oppose communists and now I understand a lot of tactics communists use .

Ignorant people are easy targets for people with evil motives .

  24. Call me ignorant, but looking at the situation, what had Ly Tong done so wisely? He pepper sprayed DVH now being charged 5 counts. On the other hand, DVH got a bit of sore eyes, but continued to finished up the show (up to 15 songs), still collect his money and still continue to do so in America.

  26. Apple vs. DVH, more similarities than you think, Donny:
-Loudness: Any Apple launching makes a lot of loud noise around the world, DVH just makes loud obnoxious noises.
-Both do a lot of crazy tasks but suck at the only thing they’re supposed to do well: Being a phone and singing, respectively.
-Both with very intrusive controlling/operating systems: Itune vs. Hanoi.
-Both are usually loved by yuppies =)

Whoever you are made a really good point. What Ly Tong did was not what America, the place we currently live in, is all about. We live in a free country where one can be whoever he wants to be. If I am a republican, I hope that I don’t have to be pepper sprayed by the democrat. What Ly Tong had done might not be as cruel as the communist, but isn’t so differ from the VC. Just because DVH is not on his camp, he gets attacked? Come on now.

  31. Once upon a time, the US were involved in a Cold War with Russia and China. What was supposed to be a Cold War in their lands evolved into a bloody war in Vietnam where the Vietnamese were brainwashed into killing eachother. Now, we are in a different world in which the Americans, Russians and Chinese are moving on to a different kind of battle while we Vietnamese are still stuck in the past and are determined to continue destroying each other. The latest episode in which an aging and sex-deprived dragqueen attacked a flamboyant and supposedly gay Dam Vinh Hung has captured the tragi-comedy of a ghetto mindset and should be put into a musical called La Cage aux Folles- Part 3.

  32. Last time when Ly Tong hijacked a plane from Thailand to drop pamphlets over Vietnam, I thought he was crazy but heroic. I held respect for him for having the courage to risk his life to do what he strongly believed in.
This time, by attacking a helpless victim in such way, he was crazy and stupid. He has destroyed all his image & reputation and also doing a lot of damages to the Vietnamese community under the eyes of the American public. They would now see him as merely a nut, a coward and definitely not a hero.

  33. Dear Ms. Đàm vĩnh Hưng,

Comrade VC clown Hưng, your touring career in the United States is over, period.

Also, I think you and Dũng Gaylor would make a nice couple. Oh wait, you and Dũng Gaylor are already a couple and experts in using the backdoor.

    Best wishes,
    Dương Triệu Vũ

  34. For those who still believes that Ly Tong’s act was heroic, please take a step back and consider this:
Out of this incident, who ends up getting the upper hand? I would say the VC. DVH gets more publicity which would help him in show biz. He would even be seen by folks in VN as being brave for continuing with the rest of the show and the tours. Whereas LT is now convicted under the Laws of the nation and will have a criminal record against him. Certainly the VC regime will complain at diplomatic level that an American citizen had attacked a Vietnamese citizen.
    Was that smart?
And if LT did something which benefits the VC, one should pose a question as to whether LT was bought out? The VC is a master in manipulating situations like this by using money. LT’s ex Commander In Chief in the Air Force, once Premier of South Vietnam was bought out, so what stops LT from doing just the same? (Sorry what in this paragraph is just a conspiracy theory to make us stop and think)
    Chao!

Yes, let’s show the world we as a people, beside fighting the war that’s no longer desired by our masters in the US, Russia and China, have also taken upon ourselves the task of attacking gay people with anal jokes. It takes on to know one. BTW, how do you know your European/ Judeo Christian ancestors Adam and Eve didn’t use their back doors? LOL

    Here are some suggestions:

    a) Go play with Barney-the-purple-dinosaur
    b) Go buy another pink Louis Vuitton belt
    c) Consult with VC Nguyễn tấn Dũng about the etiquette of going through the entry at the rear of a building
    d) Shedding his crocodile tears on Andrew Lam’s shoulder of Pacific News about the media’s bias against him
    e) Buy more Louis Vuitton belts in rainbow colors
    f) Move to Thailand and live among the she-males into oblivion

I have no respect for any of the stunts because they just stunts. You want to improve conditions and change Viet Nam, go back and do it. Open a school that challenges the mind of the 65% population born after the war. But this stunt takes the cake…STUPID. It makes us look bad, like we are the crazies. DVH can suck, can sing VC material, who cares…. But this stunt by Ly Tong brings us lower than them. He had no right to belittle the efforts of the community with his own selfish get my additional 15 minutes of fame before I die… B.S.

  42. To j: With two ongoing federal investigations against Mr. Dam (FBI and IRS for tax evasion and falsifying marriage), I doubt that Mr. Dam will fly back to the US any time soon. However, Mr. Ly Tong’s trial is coming up, can you guess what happens when the “accuser/victim”, aka Mr. Dam, does not show up??

To Long: “LT is convicted”..wow..when did that happen? Did we all miss the trial already?

To lilsaigongurl: This sentence, “Open a school that challenges the mind of the 65% population born after the war”, shows that you have no idea or experience living under communist regime. I guess that you may be too young to understand communism.

To suavemente: you are so ignorant about Vietnamese history. Please refrain from making ignorant statements so that the rest of us can give you the benefit of the doubt

To all of you, who keep saying that this does nothing to DVH and the VC propaganda machine: take a look at what happens to “Miss Viet Global 2010″ show in Las Vegas, to which DVH and a handful of performers from VN have been booked in advance. Let me throw a wild guess and bet that DVH and other well-known performers from VN will never fly to the US for any shows any time soon
